Mask Image Transfers

This collection emerges from a deeply reflective exploration undertaken for a scholastic endeavor, aiming to encapsulate the essence of 2020, marked notably by the emergence of vaccination cards as pivotal instruments of communication. By using disposable masks as canvases, I sought to infuse images of participants onto these ephemeral surfaces, thereby capturing a time when social media platforms witnessed an influx of selfies featuring vaccination cards. My artistic endeavor is a response to this surge in visual communication, endeavoring to encapsulate the transient nature of this phenomenon. The inherent impermanence of the masks lends itself poignantly to the process of image transfer, resulting in a spectrum of outcomes—from pristine renditions to faint, evocative impressions—each echoing the fragile and evolving nature of contemporary discourse.
