Artist Statement:
The impermanence of the lumen print process is a fun concept to mix with items such as candy. Candies tend to have very long expiration dates. Sweets have so many preservatives that in retrospect, the effect of time, the candy would last longer than these prints would. Things like, food additives, colors, and dyes, natural or artificial flavors, are already in sweet treats. I tried to weave these elements throughout my images with things I’ve found around my house and the grocery store. 

Advertising for candies is directly targeted at children. Creating lumen prints with candies as the material, I’ve made them less appetizing and more appealing to look at from a different perspective. As a kid, you’re told not to play with your food, somehow candy doesn’t fit into that rule.
